Enter a bank, branch or town name, or choose a bank to browse its branches.

How to find a Sri Lankan bank or branch code

Enter the bank or branch name, or try a town such as Negombo, then select Search. Review the matching banks and branches; no result is selected automatically. Use Filter by bank to narrow the search and select Search again.

Choose the matching result to view and copy its codes. Check the bank and branch together before using them on a form. To browse a bank's branches, choose the bank and use Browse branches.

Bank codes and branch codes in Sri Lanka

The bank code is a four-digit identifier for the institution. The branch code is a three-digit identifier within that institution. For example, Bank of Ceylon is listed under 7010 and its Negombo branch under 018. A branch code by itself can match more than one bank.

Keep leading zeros when entering codes. If a form has separate bank-code and branch-code boxes, enter each code in its own box rather than combining them.

Common bank and branch code examples

These examples show why the bank and branch must be checked together. Each bank below has a listed Negombo branch, but the branch codes differ. Search the branch you need rather than using an example for another town or office.

Look up a bank and branch using their codes

A four-digit search such as 7010 finds the institution. A three-digit search such as 018 finds matching branches, which may belong to several banks. Choose a bank in the filter when you know which institution you need.

For one specific bank and branch, enter a pair such as 7010/018 or 7010018. The results identify Bank of Ceylon's listed Negombo branch. Choose it to view the separate codes; this paired search format is not a SWIFT/BIC identifier.

Find branches by town or bank name

Choose All banks and search a town name to compare branches whose names contain that town. Choose one bank and select Search to narrow the results, or use Browse branches to see its branch list. You can page through the list without typing a location.

Results use branch names rather than map locations. They do not show distances, opening hours, street addresses, districts or provinces. If a branch has a different name from its town, try the branch's name or browse the bank's list.

Before using a code for a transfer

Match the bank and branch to the recipient's account details. This finder does not verify an account number, account holder, transfer eligibility or payment instructions.

Bank and branch codes are different from SWIFT/BIC identifiers used in international banking. This finder does not supply SWIFT/BIC or a separate routing code. Ask the bank for the identifier and format required by your transfer service. LankaPay's bank and branch directory is another place to check current published details.

Frequently asked questions

Choose the bank, enter the branch name and select Search. Choose the matching branch from the results to view its four-digit bank code and three-digit branch code together. Check both names before copying a code for a form.

A bank code identifies a bank or financial institution. A branch code identifies a branch within that institution. Branch codes can repeat across banks, so use the bank name and bank code to distinguish them.

Yes. Enter a town name such as Negombo to find branches whose names contain it. Choose All banks to compare matches across banks. This is a name search; it does not show distances, street addresses or every branch near your location.

Bank of Ceylon is listed with bank code 7010. Each branch has a separate branch code; for example, the listed Negombo branch has code 018. Search for the branch you need and confirm the details with the bank for a transfer.

Commercial Bank PLC is listed with bank code 7056. Its listed Negombo branch has branch code 013. Other branches have different codes, so choose the branch that matches the recipient's account details.

A branch code identifies a branch within one bank, not across every bank. For example, a search for 001 can return several institutions. Filter by bank or enter both codes, then choose the matching result; the finder does not choose a bank for you.

Yes. Enter the four-digit bank code followed by the three-digit branch code, such as 7010/018. You can also enter 7010018. Both formats look up the same bank and branch; they are not a SWIFT/BIC code.

No. This finder shows bank codes and branch codes. For SWIFT/BIC, international transfers or a form asking for another routing format, get the required details directly from the bank. Do not substitute a bank or branch code for a SWIFT/BIC.

Branch codes are shown as three digits. Copy 018 as 018 rather than 18 so the code keeps its full format. The copy buttons preserve leading zeros.

No. HariTools is an independent reference tool. Branch names, institution names and coverage may differ from current bank records. Confirm missing or uncertain details with the bank before making a payment.
